Kyle Gibbon is a Royal Television Society-winning and Rose d’Or-nominated documentary producer, and a voting member of BAFTA. A highly experienced archive specialist, he is a two-time winner of the FOCAL International Award for Best Use of Footage (2020, 2024) and a nominee for FOCAL Researcher of the Year. His films have premiered at festivals worldwide, including Sundance, New York, Venice and IDFA.
As Head of Archive & Licensing at OR Media in London, Kyle leads a central team facilitating complex current affairs and historical documentaries. His work frequently involves projects set in challenging and hostile regions such as Iran, Afghanistan, Yemen and Lebanon, and overseeing all licensing spend across the group. His work in this role has contributed to FOCAL Award-winning films. Alongside production, he oversees the company’s back catalogue sales and international distribution.
For over 14 years, Kyle has collaborated closely with director Nick Broomfield, producing several successful feature films. Most recently he produced The Stones and Brian Jones (2023), acquired by Magnolia Pictures for US theatrical release. Before that he produced Last Man Standing: Suge Knight and the Murders of Biggie & Tupac, named Film Pick of the Year 2021 by The Guardian, and the Sundance 2019 Official Selection Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love, which enjoyed global theatrical success via Universal Pictures. His work with Broomfield also includes the Academy Award-shortlisted Tales of the Grim Sleeper (2015), Whitney: Can I Be Me and My Father and Me.
Kyle’s documentary work began early. His 2012 graduation film from Newport Film School was the first to tell the story of the Ballymurphy Massacre in Northern Ireland. It won an RTS Award for Best Student Documentary and was instrumental in helping the families win justice, culminating in a full apology from the Prime Minister in Parliament.
Alongside his feature work, Kyle has produced formatted specialist factual television for Discovery Channel and UKTV, including Impossible Engineering and Impossible Railways. Shot across the globe, from Antarctica to the International Space Station, these series have been broadcast in over 150 territories.
